Karter operates on a principle of transient processing. When you send us an image or email signature, our system processes the data in memory to extract contact information and returns the result to you. We do not build a permanent, searchable database of your contacts.
Your data flows through the following secure infrastructure providers:
If you use our "Batch" or "Web Upload" tools, your extracted data is temporarily held in a secure queue solely to allow for CSV generation. This data is deleted from our active database immediately upon export or after 30 days of inactivity.
Karter utilizes Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Large Language Models (LLM) to extract text from images. We do not scan, collect, store, or analyze facial geometry or biometric identifiers from any photographs contained on business cards.
Karter utilizes Artificial Intelligence to extract data. While highly accurate, the quality of the output relies heavily on the quality of the input provided.
We cannot guarantee accurate results for low-resolution images, poor lighting conditions, handwriting, or unconventional email signature formats. You agree that Karter is provided "as is" and we are not liable for any lost business, missed connections, or errors resulting from data extraction inaccuracies. Please verify important contact details manually.
Important: You are responsible for the content of the emails you forward to Karter.
Karter processes the text contained within the emails you forward to identify contact details. It is your responsibility to ensure you do not inadvertently forward confidential email threads, sensitive internal documents, or privileged legal communications along with the signature.
We strongly recommend copying the email signature of your target contact into a new blank email. Karter is not responsible for the exposure of confidential information voluntarily submitted to our processing addresses.
You may not use Karter to process illegal content, sensitive personal health information, or to generate spam lists. We reserve the right to terminate accounts that abuse the API or violate these terms.
These terms shall be governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
For users located in the United States: You agree that any dispute or claim arising out of your use of Karter will be resolved by binding arbitration, rather than in court. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration.
Because Karter offers non-expiring credits, our refund policy is simple:
